Chris graduated from Fontbonne University in 1992 with a B.A. degree and honors in English. She graduated with honors and an A.A. Degree from East Central College in 1989, and was presented with the ECC Award for Outstanding Achievement in English from her mentor, the late Dr. Bob Harvey, ECC English instructor.
In 2009, Chris received the Outstanding Alumni Award from East Central College. She also was presented with the Distinguished Alumni Award from The Missouri Community College Association in 2009.
Chris received the Velma Jones Sroetker Library Service Award in 2008 for her contributions and service to Washington Public Library.
In 2005, Chris and her Missourian colleague Dawn Kitchell were awarded the Missouri Association of School Libraries Friend of the Libraries Award for their service to school libraries through Book Buzz, The Missourian’s Youth Literacy Project.
Twist is in the Running
“Twist of Fate, the Miracle Colt and His Friends,” has been named a Show Me Readers Award Nominee for 2011-2012 by MASL, the Missouri Association of School Librarians. It is one of 10 books nominated for the award.
Missouri students in grades 1-3 will begin voting for the Show Me Award winner on March 1, 2012. Voting will conclude at midnight on March 10. The winner will be announced the 2012 annual MASL Spring Conference at Lake of the Ozarks.
